Rejuvenate Your Face With Eyelid Surgery
Excess skin and fat in the upper and lower eyelids can add considerable years to a person’s appearance. Serums and creams may improve the appearance of dark circles and puffiness, but they cannot remove excess skin or fat from around the eye. A blepharoplasty in New Jersey is one of the first surgical procedures that Dr. Glicksman may recommend to patients that desire facial rejuvenation. Eyelid surgery usually involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids.

Who May Be a Candidate for a Blepharoplasty?
Patients typically think that a blepharoplasty is a procedure for older men and women, but many younger patients in their late 30s and 40s first start to see signs of aging around their eyes.
More permanent problems such as lower lid puffiness and dark circles or bags, as well as upper lid excess skin, can appear at variable ages. Genetics, allergies, a lack of sleep, and sun damage can all contribute to the signs of aging. Because Dr. Glicksman personally speaks with and treats all of her patients, she can provide them with a critical and honest assessment before recommending blepharoplasty.
Many patients in their 50s and 60s find that it becomes increasingly difficult to treat their aging forehead and crow’s feet area with BOTOX® alone. Dr. Glicksman can help her patients realize when it is time to stop “renting” facial fillers and BOTOX®, and start “buying” a more permanent solution with blepharoplasty. Dr. Glicksman may recommend eyelid surgery to her patients who can no longer get the lift they want from injectables alone and need to address the excess skin and fat around their upper and lower eyelids.
Every Patient. Every Visit.
Dr. Glicksman is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been committed to delivering expert, state-of-the-art care for her patients for over 25 years. The doctor performs all of her own consultations, procedures, and treatments and does not use “practice extenders” to care for her patients.
What Does Blepharoplasty Surgery Involve?
The surgical procedure is most often performed under sedation or general anesthesia at Dr. Glicksman’s fully licensed and accredited surgery center. Incisions in the upper eyelid are well placed within the upper lid crease, and the lower eyelid incisions are hidden just below the lower lashes. Patients report very little pain or discomfort from this procedure, and the results can be dramatic. Most patients will have some degree of postoperative bruising after eyelid surgery, but this usually fades quickly. All sutures are generally out by six days, with most patients returning to work or social activities within a week to 10 days after eyelid surgery.
