What is the Lumenis UltraPulse® Encore CO2 Laser?

The Encore laser by Lumenis provides two options for laser skin resurfacing in NJ. The laser is an improvement of the older CO2 technology used for aged, sun-damaged, pigmented, or scarred skin. The biggest advancement in the last 10 years is the low downtime and rapid improvement in the texture and quality of aging skin. The laser micro-beams can be set to treat the more superficial layers of the skin using the ActiveFX hand piece. This can remove unwanted pigment and superficial fine lines and scars. The DeepFX hand piece penetrates deeper into the dermal layers, triggering collagen production and tissue regeneration over several months.

What is the Healing Time for Laser Resurfacing?

While older versions of the CO2 laser were limited by extensive healing and downtime, the newer version of this laser allows much quicker healing of the skin by using a fractional technique. Detailed pre-procedure instructions and a post-procedure regimen help ensure patient safety and optimal healing.

Does This Procedure Require Anesthesia?

Encore laser resurfacing can safely be performed in the office. Patients are pre-treated with Emla® topical anesthetic cream. Patients leave the office sore but comfortable, and are given full instructions to ensure a safe and predictable recovery.

ActiveFX

  • Treats brown spots and areas of hyperpigmentation in most skin types
  • Helps smooth superficial skin texture and fine lines
  • May require additional procedures to achieve optimal results
  • Healing appearance: redness and pinpoint scabs
  • Downtime usually five to six days

DeepFX

  • Treats deep wrinkles, acne, and trauma scars and produces skin tightening
  • May require an additional treatment in some more severe cases
  • Healing appearance: small areas of pinpoint bleeding, redness, and swelling for two to five days

TotalFX

  • A combination of both ActiveFX and DeepFX performed the same day in a series of passes with the two different laser hand pieces. This is the most common treatment recommend by Dr. Glicksman for photo aging and skin tightening
  • Pinpoint bleeding, redness, and swelling for three to five days
